You know, there are so many obvious questions of life that you would think I had the answers to, but when trying to figure out a way to explain it to my 5 year old I become speechless. A bumbling idiot! Seriously, these are things we deal with everyday, all the time...so why can't I fully explain it. The sad thing is...maybe I really don't know how it all works.
Here are the questions:
How does a mirror really work?
Well, um, the light and the reflection....um, the light on the glass...um, why can't I answer this!
Where does your water from the facet come from?
Now, I know...um sort of, that we have a well, somewhere...and that pipes carry the water to my house, underground, but I don't know how when I turn the facet, the water just flows, is there a signal sent or something, is there just constant pressure of water flowing or is there a reservoir under my house with some water in it. Are these pipes every cleaned? Do they ever get tiny cracks in there where bacteria seep in? Oh my goodness, my mind is starting to swirl!
How does the computer work?
It has a "computer brain" inside which is a program so when you hit the keys on the keyboard and use the mouse you tell it what to do. Uh-hugh....yeah....
What is cottage cheese made out of?
Cheese that curdled. [Follow up question] What are curdles? Um...cheese that got hard and clumped up. Now I seriously am thinking cottage cheese is a bit of a mystery.
Where does the wind come from?
Um....it comes from different directions? Um...the air....um, God.
